About Me

I hope everyone had a great New Year! It’s crazy to think that it is 2023! I hope you all will be working on their New Year’s resolutions. 😊

I have realized that I never really introduced myself when I first started my author blog! So, I wanted to change that. I have Arcadian Divinity releasing this year, while Ethereal Imprints came out in May of 2022. I also have many other novels in the works!

My name is Elizabeth Wittekind, and I reside in North Carolina. I have always loved entertainment in general, from the time I was a child. From Disney movies when I was little, to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings when I was older, I have always been drawn to imaginative genres. I have always had a creative side, and I feel like my creativity has gotten better as I have gotten older.

My imagination began when I was small. I clearly remember elementary school. The teacher would have various creative writing prompts that would begin a scenario that would end with a ‘what happens next?’ vibe to them. It would be my job to write a story based on the prompt. I always loved those assignments. I will always remember a writing prompt from 4th grade. It was a prompt that started with ‘What is behind a big, red curtain?’ I came up with the story, and then afterward all the students had to read what we came up with to the class. I wrote a story about how there was a big tunnel and a little tunnel behind the curtain, and behind that was a T-Rex! I don’t remember the grade that I got on the assignment, but it was entertaining for the rest of my class to hear! 😊 I was around nine to ten years old at the time and had just gotten into Jurassic Park and Lord of the Rings.

Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park… I typically gravitate toward genres that sound out of the ordinary, and maybe a little bit peculiar. 😊

I have always enjoyed entertainment and being creative. I think creativity is now just a part of who I am. I think my imagination is what made me want to become an author, since I had, and still have, a bunch of different ideas in my head. I began writing when I was sixteen, but didn’t really think about becoming a published author until 2020, after I wrote Ethereal Imprints.  I am working on several other novels, all in various stages, and will be releasing them over the next few years!

I hope you all have enjoyed this blog post and have a great start to 2023! I will be writing again very soon!

Arcadian Divinity Character Names

Names have always been interesting to me, since they can describe many characteristics about a person or an animal. Names can have different meanings, and can be very simple or very complex. For my characters, especially the ones for Arcadian Divinity, I decided to use religious names, or unique words from different languages. This is because of the angels as well as the mortals (the people or the animals) that are in the story. For example, the word Caelum is Latin. It is also a constellation in the sky, with the symbolism being a chisel. The Latin meaning though, is heaven. I chose this word because of the definition. I wanted a unique name for the main character, one that sounded interesting and meant something that signified who the character was. I also wanted to show what the angel did. The way to say the angel’s name the Latin way, is that the word Caelum, the first portion, Cae, rhymes with high.

There are other angels in the story as well as mortals. Even the minor characters have religious names, but I purposely gave the angels the unique ones that were not used as often. Adiel was a name that I chose for Caelum’s friend. His name is Hebrew and means ‘ornament of God’ or ‘God passes by.’ Either meaning was significant enough to draw me to the name. So, I used that one for the main character’s friend. I chose the pronunciation to be the way the name is said in Hebrew. It is said like Add-de-el.

When I was coming up with the novel to begin with, I needed to plan out the character’s names. I do this for every novel that I write. Planning out the names for me is my favorite part, because the names show the uniqueness of the character, as well as who they are. In order to find the names, I usually use either Pinterest or Google. For most of my stories, I like using the eclectic names that are out of the ordinary. Some of them are familiar, but mostly I enjoy ones that are a twist on what most individuals already know. I love coming up with character names because it shows the potential traits about them. It also introduces the readers to new or interesting words. The readers either haven’t heard the names before or didn’t really know about.

I hope everyone enjoys the cover art and the description for Arcadian Divinity!  The latest the novel will be out is August 2023, so stay tuned for updates!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, and I will be writing again very soon!

Hello Again!

Hello again! I have not posted anything in my blog in a while, so I just wanted to let everyone know what has been going on.

I am writing a second novel! It is a standalone book that is in the genre of urban fantasy. I am currently editing the second draft of the story and trimming down the word count, but for the first draft it was 105,889 words! It won’t be that long for the final product and I will be going over it multiple times before I send it to the editor. Also, I’ve already cut out about 1,000 words right now, where I am in the story, but I wanted to let everyone know that I am working very hard, and will have some more books coming out soon!

For the story that I am editing right now, I will not be placing it on preorder. So, when it is out, it is out to buy! Like I wrote before, I am currently editing the book, so I have a few more things to do before I put it out on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, but I am trying to get everything done so it can be released between April- August 2023. Anytime between those months, the novel will be released! 😊

Thank you and I will be writing again soon!
