The concept for Arcadian Divinity was something that I had in my head for a while, an idea that stayed in my brain throughout the span of time that I wrote Ethereal Imprints. I consistently would have the thought of a story with an angel, all while I was focusing on a different project with different characters. Even though one of them is similar to one character in Ethereal Imprints, the idea for what then became Arcadian Divinity was unique.
I did have inspiration for the novel, but I wanted to make sure that it was a contrast from similar ideas. After all, I cannot copy directly from any other author’s concepts. I was able to use different pieces from many places, and then spin it around to make the concept my own, as well as making it eclectic. One of the movies that I was thinking about when I wrote Arcadian Divinity I hadn’t fully seen until well after I finished the first draft! I had only seen parts of the film, but bits and pieces were in my mind as I wrote Arcadian Divinity. That movie was City of Angels. I also got inspired by The Green Mile. As a result, there are parts to the novel that have qualities to those two movies.
Many of the ideas for my novels just fall into my head randomly, and then I find some inspiration and begin writing the novel by hand. After that, I transfer what I’ve written into a Word document. I handwrite parts, and then I transfer them. I repeat the process until I am completely done. By the time I finish the novel, the manuscript is a GIGANTIC Word document! After that, I begin the publishing process.
It has been quite a journey to publish Arcadian Divinity, but it has also been a fun one! Currently, I have given the manuscript to Miblart.com, the cover designer/ formatter, so the novel can be finalized. I will be getting the final version soon, and then will have to do a few more things to publish, but the release date for Arcadian Divinity is March 8, 2024!
I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday, and I will be typing another post soon!
Glad to read this blog, Elizabeth. I appreciate your explanation of the creative process involved with writing a nove. My best wishes for Arcadian Divinity to be a total success.
I love when you give updates to Elizabeth. It really gives insight to what has inspired your writings. Really cool that you were able to have a couple of book signings. I’d really like to visit that studio when I get down there again! Keep up the great work and keep as followers posted.
